Using our Stud Dogs

We very occasionally offer our stud dogs to approved females within other responsible Poodle breeding programs.  Most of our stud dogs live in Guardian homes with regular communication and guidance from us.  See the full listing our of retired, current, and upcoming studs under “Our Males.”

We require potential females to uphold the same basic standards that we use for our own breeding dogs.  That includes a minimum of the following:

  • CHIC health certified and all results publicly posted on the OFA website

  • 15 health tests that can be carried by Poodles (not just the basic CHIC required health tests)

  • Parents of the female CHIC health certified and all results publicly posted on the OFA website

  • Tested at the Veterinary Genetics Laboratory as part of the Canine Genetic Diversity project with a test breeding being a 10/10 match which helps improve genetic diversity

  • 5 American Kennel Club (AKC), United Kennel Club (UKC), and/or Canadian Kennel Club (CKC) titles which proves the animal is stable, intelligent, sociable, and can work in a stressful environment. Performance titles demonstrate the dog is able to learn, problem solve, and has resilience to work through failure without shutting down.

  • AKC, UKC, or CKC CH title to reflect at least basic solid conformation as proper structure is imperative to support all the activities a dog will do over a lifetime

  • Stable confident temperament with no aggressive history

  • 2-6 years of age to complete all health testing and reduce possible whelping complication risks

  • No disqualifying conformation faults per the AKC/UKC/CKC written breed standard

  • Registered with the AKC, UKC, and/or CKC

  • No merle color or doodles in the pedigree or produced by the female’s breeder

  • Only purebred Poodle; no other breeds

  • Current negative brucellosis test result

 

We also require the same basic responsible breeder standards that we use for our own program which includes the following:

  • Puppies raised in-home with a strong development program such as Puppy Culture that includes socialization protocols, emotional resilience exercises, early positive grooming, problem solving, basic skills training, desensitization exercises, building body awareness, Early Neurological Stimulation, Early Scent Introduction, and environment enrichment

  • Puppies are microchipped, vet checked, dewormed, and placed with screened responsible families that sign a detailed written contract on or after 8 weeks of age based on temperament testing results that align with the lifestyle, goals, and preferences of each family

  • All puppy family contact information shared with us

  • Puppies covered by a written health guarantee

  • No puppies placed with AKC, UKC, or CKC full registration and all limited registration puppies are spayed/neutered between 12-24 months of age

  • Commitment to lifetime support and responsible for the puppies for their life so no puppies ever end up in a rescue or shelter

  • Never had privileges suspended by the AKC, UKC, or CKC

  • Responsible track record and reputation within the breeder community

  • Do not ship puppies via cargo to families
